PEDDLE ALONG WITH ME!

Peddle along with meand take in some of my favorite sights...

here ...

in my neck of the woods.

This is a newer home that went up across from the lake.

This is an old barn on the lake. Some really neat folks bought it and are in the process of turning it into their home.

This old farmhouse is the first house to reside on all this beautiful land that my neighbors and I now enjoy. They used to have the lake all to themselves!! I can't even imagine how peaceful it must have been way back then.

The following photos are of some of my favorite old barns!

Here it is!!!

The house I drive by so often going 1.5 miles/hour so I can window peak. I'm sure she knows who I am by now and must think I'm a crazed lunatick stalker person!!

Isn't it lovely. She has three beautiful barns and lots of sheep and chickens. To charming to put into words!!

Another charming little farmhouse. The cutest little old couple live here. They keep it up so nicely too.

Here's the other house that I dream about.

It actually sits empty. !! Hubby and I went through it a couple of months ago. The work it would need just get it into living condition was overwhelming. If we didn't have kids I would consider tackling it!!

Here is another one of my faves that sits empty, just waiting for a family to love it back into tip top shape.

Yes, I stalked the owners of this one too. I actually tracked down the owners who live in another city and asked them if they would consider selling.

For some reason they are hanging on to it. So, there it sits all lonely and everything. Such a shame.

There's just something about these old farmsteads that makes me crazy!!

Now this is what we were actually peddling toward.

This swamp land.

because...

Some Bald Eagles have nested here.

Very rare in our parts.

Not great photos, I know. A new camera is on our list.

Hey, is that an ice cream truck out here in hicksville?? Yip! It ventures down our country roads to make all the little country kids happy and sticky!!!
Have a great week!
Jen

Oh my, what a wonderful area you live in. So peaceful, so serene and quiet, lovely, lovely. It's the type of place DH and I would love to move to. For now, we are making the best of what we have and counting our blessings.

Thank you so much for that lovely little bike tour. I enjoyed it all, barns, farm houses, nesting eagles and glimpses of your family.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Do they have any local jobs for nurse anesthetists? I know one who will be graduating soon! :)

Just kidding. Still, you make it all look very inviting - I love those houses!

Jen, these pictures are so beautiful! I practically have all our things on a moving truck towards our area! I love those old homes; they are amazing! One of them, the white one with green trim, reminds me of "Green Gables" (from "Anne of Green Gables")...I can see why you love these homes so! I love that lake, too! :)

I hope you are having a fantastic week! :)

I need to fix the wheel on my old bike so we can go riding. Although it's so hot already... 90 degrees plus. Came out of nowhere. But we could get up really early or go near dark for a spell.

i love all those houses and barns. Me and steven also slow down outside farms and small holdings having a look as we love anything like that and it would be a dream to have a farm of our own...they probably think we are strange too lol!!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. You have some really nice, well-maintained old houses near you. I'm kind of jealous. I live in a place where all of the old houses are practically disintegrating, it's really sad.

Jen, It is absolutely beautiful along your riding trail. I too am sad at seeing grand old homes sitting empty waiting to be loved again and go from a house to a home. Lovely post:-)

Jen, thanks for stopping by my page, and for the wonderful ride. The empty homes make me sad. I hope someone takes a real interest in them before it's too late. The eagle nest at the end was a great surprise.

Hi Jen,
This was the loveliest of tours. I love old farmhouses. I grew up in one and have always dreamed of living in one again. I love to take photos of old barns as well I'm getting quite a collection. That one house that was standing empty amde me wonder, 'since they live in a different town, maybe they wouln't even notice I moved in'. What do ya think?

June

Jen, this is an amazing ride with some fabulous places to "stalk". LOL! I used to go running at night so I could sneak a peak into homes of some fabulous neighborhoods. I hope they don't call the cops on ya. ha ha.

Thank you for sharing your views. I have never seen a bald eagle before. How lucky you are!

Becky

I loved taking that bike tour with you! I love the old homes and that one was almost like my farmhouse, except it looked much, much roomier! I always pick out colors, etc. for those old farmhomes! It's so much fun imagining them!
