OK, so I know I will not be winning the Mother of the year award because YES that is a butcher knife in my 8 year olds hand! I'm thinking I'm probably the only Mother left in the world that does not have the super safe and easy pumpkin carving tools. Maybe I'll pick up a few packages of them this year when they have the after Halloween clearance sales. Of course...that's what I said last year and the year before that! Don't worry people. There was very close adult supervision here and I even made some of the more difficult cuts.
She drew the face herself.
I think he turned out pretty cute!
One down and five more to go!!

The swine flu has hit our area pretty hard!! It's spreading like wild fire and there have been many school closings. My three have avoided it until tonight when It hit the boy like a ton a bricks!! He was playing football in the yard and came in to tell me that his eyes felt funny. I felt his forehead and he was on fire. I took his temp and it was 103 degrees. So, I'm praying that we don't all start dropping like flies!!
Hope everyone is having a great week!
Jen

The pumpkin did turn out very cute Jen! I bet she had a great time carving it.
I hope your son gets over his flu quickly and that all of ya'll don't get it.
A few of the kids at school where my hubbie teaches has had it too.
Ya' know.... For many years we all used carving/butcher knives to cut up a pumpkin. I don't know about you but I still have all 10 of my fingers... LOL!!
She did a great job!!
Have a Wonderful Day!
Hugz,
Marilyn
Wow, she did a super good job! I love it!
Hope your son feels better soon~ and I hope you are able to prevent it from spreading to everyone else in the house- I hear it's just dreadful. GOod luck with that- keep up posted on his progress.
Glad to see no one was hurt in the pumpkin carving! LOL!
Swine flu was unreal here a few months back! we had schools close, doctors wouldnt' see patients, they would just call them in meds. it was bad. It seems like everyone I know that has children got it (the kids). I knew a lot of people that had it. I sure hope no one in your family gets it!
Hi Jen,
I hope that you all get over this awful flu soon. I'm chugging the OJ these days. It might not help me, but it makes me feel better all the same.Hug your little one for me.
Your daughter's pumpkin turned out so darn cute. I take it she lived through the carving of it too, or you wouldn't have done the post. lol
Hugs,
June
What a cutie that designer is...she did a outstanding job on her pumpkin! Hope you and your family have a great "HALLOWEEN".
Blessings,
Linda
Darling photos. She sure is having fun. Love the smile on her face. She is really concentrating on her work. What a cutie!
Love seeing the curved pumpkin sitting on the front porch!
What a cute pumpkin.
Hope your son feels better soon and the flu bypasses the rest of you.
wow, i don't think i would even handle that knife, but she did great!
you mean, Obama is right on asking for an emergency power to curtail the spread of swine flu? will you and your family submit to mandatory vaccination?
xoxoxo
Hey Jen,
Your girl looks like she's handling that knife pretty well for a youngin! The pumpkin did turn out very cute!
I hope the rest of you stay healthy! Hope your son is feeling better.
Nancy
I'm sorry that it's hit your family. I hope it's very mild and not a big problem for you. You did a pretty good job on the jack o lantern.
I think you are a GREAT mom to let your daughter independently (under close supervision) express her creativity.
Hoping the flu will affect you only mildly - get chicken noodle soup on the stove.
Her pumpkin looks great!! Hope your little boy feels better soon. Stop by when you can. Hugs, Connie
Don't you worry about it. I think some moms out there are too cautious. I was cooking at the age of 8, literally!! They need to learn sometime and she did a good job.
Her pumpkin looks adorable and very cute on the porch! :) I am so sorry to hear about your son feeling sick! :( I hope he feels better soon, and that you and the rest of your family stay well!
She did great. My mom had my kids last weekend and had planned on carving 10 pumpkins to keep them busy. They ran out of steam after 3! Hope your son feels well enough to enjoy Halloween.
I'm having a giveaway for my sweet bloggie friends so come by if you get a chance, there's a button on my right sidebar.
Hugs,
Dawn
