Family Favorite

These cookies are always a hit at our house. Poopies as my kids call em, don't last long around here.

1/2 cup milk
5 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
pinch of salt
3 cups quick oats
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla

Mix milk, cocoa, butter, sugar and salt. Bring to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and add oats, peanut butter and vanilla. Drop on wax paper by spoon and allow to harden. Yum!!

Love this project!

I got this idea from Linda over at Restyled home. I have to say that this one of one of my favorite projects ever!! Yes, I could have payed bigger bucks to have them professionally done, but now I have the memory of making them with my kids. They actually got quite a kick out of it!!

Project finished!

Well, I have been searching for a vanity for my daughters room and I ran across this desk at Goodwill for only $10. I wish I took a before picture, but I was so excited to get it finished It totally slipped my mind. After I loaded it into the back of my van, I ran up the street to my favorite estate store and picked up the chair for $5, then one more stop to pick up a couple cans of spray paint. Once home, I pulled in the garage, unloaded my loot and got to work right where I dumped it. I wanted to have it finished by the time my daughter returned from school, so she would be super suprised!! A couple coats of spray paint to both pieces and they were already looking adorable. I then used some scrapbook paper I had laying around to decoupage the three drawers. The green paper is actually much lighter than in the picture and it has whiet polka dots. I used an old shower curtain to cusion and skirt the chair and trimmed it out with white ball fringe. Project finished!! I can't tell you how excited she was when she walked in her room. She immediately started filling the drawers with all of her pretties and goodies.

Sweet little girl

While scouring a local antique store this little girl found me. Her eyes reached out and grabbed me. I just had to have her. She looks alot like my own daughter. In fact, while I was paying the cashier he mentioned how much they look alike.

I've had sick kids around here for the past few days. The dreaded stomache flu is going around early this year. I guess that could be a good thing to get it out of the way before the Holidays. Trying to look on the bright side!!

Good Night.

This is one of my favorite pictures!! I can't believe how much my babies have grown and how time flies. They are definately not babies anymore. My oldest (the one in the middle) will not even be dressing up this year. I guess it's not cool when your in middle school. The mouse will be a baseball player and the cute little poodle will be a cheerleader. Sigh....I put this picture on display every October!!

Aprons anyone?

So, Christmas is just around the corner!! I thought I better get busy crafting this years gifts, cause times a tickin. I decided to make aprons this year. I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby. I also picked up some ric-rac and ribbon to embellish the cute little pockets. When I'm finished, I will have them embroidered with the names or initials of those who will be unwrapping them on Christmas Eve.

I'll be sure and post pictures when they are finished.

Candles

After a long day, there is nothing like coming home and lighting up my favorite scented candle. I'm crazy for candles and when you visit the Candlelit Cottage chances are you'll be welcomed by the warm aroma of one of my favorite scents! My favorite fall scent is Yankees Ciderweb. Now I'm gonna go cozy up with a good book and a mug of hot apple cider!
