PUMPKIN CARVING

OK, so I know I will not be winning the Mother of the year award because YES that is a butcher knife in my 8 year olds hand! I'm thinking I'm probably the only Mother left in the world that does not have the super safe and easy pumpkin carving tools. Maybe I'll pick up a few packages of them this year when they have the after Halloween clearance sales. Of course...that's what I said last year and the year before that! Don't worry people. There was very close adult supervision here and I even made some of the more difficult cuts.
She drew the face herself.

I think he turned out pretty cute!

One down and five more to go!!
The swine flu has hit our area pretty hard!! It's spreading like wild fire and there have been many school closings. My three have avoided it until tonight when It hit the boy like a ton a bricks!! He was playing football in the yard and came in to tell me that his eyes felt funny. I felt his forehead and he was on fire. I took his temp and it was 103 degrees. So, I'm praying that we don't all start dropping like flies!!
Hope everyone is having a great week!
Jen

Ya' know.... For many years we all used carving/butcher knives to cut up a pumpkin. I don't know about you but I still have all 10 of my fingers... LOL!!
She did a great job!!
Have a Wonderful Day!

Glad to see no one was hurt in the pumpkin carving! LOL!

Swine flu was unreal here a few months back! we had schools close, doctors wouldnt' see patients, they would just call them in meds. it was bad. It seems like everyone I know that has children got it (the kids). I knew a lot of people that had it. I sure hope no one in your family gets it!

Hi Jen,
I hope that you all get over this awful flu soon. I'm chugging the OJ these days. It might not help me, but it makes me feel better all the same.Hug your little one for me.
Your daughter's pumpkin turned out so darn cute. I take it she lived through the carving of it too, or you wouldn't have done the post. lol
Hugs,
June

I'm sorry that it's hit your family. I hope it's very mild and not a big problem for you. You did a pretty good job on the jack o lantern.

I think you are a GREAT mom to let your daughter independently (under close supervision) express her creativity.
Hoping the flu will affect you only mildly - get chicken noodle soup on the stove.

Don't you worry about it. I think some moms out there are too cautious. I was cooking at the age of 8, literally!! They need to learn sometime and she did a good job.

She did great. My mom had my kids last weekend and had planned on carving 10 pumpkins to keep them busy. They ran out of steam after 3! Hope your son feels well enough to enjoy Halloween.

I'm having a giveaway for my sweet bloggie friends so come by if you get a chance, there's a button on my right sidebar.

Hugs,
Dawn
