Decorating dilema

I can't figure out what to do with this large wall space. It has bothered me since the day we moved in. The shelf and plate display has never really done it for me. Can anyone tell me what's missing?? I would love to repaint this room as well. I have grown very tired of the garden shed green.

Please, help a sister out and share your solutions to my decorating dilemma.

How about one of those large mirrors that sit on the floor? Or a white armoire? Maybe lean some large pillars in the corner and then add a large piece of art where your dishes currently are.

Even simpler would be to add a console table or buffet underneath what you currently have. Then add a lamp and a little vignette of some kind. So many possibilities!

hi jen,

thank you for the comment on my blog! i'm happy that it lead me to yours.

hmmm -- i will try to come up with some ideas for the wall. one thought is to create a large "frame" around the display that exists. paint a large rectangle, perhaps frame it out with some moulding? another suggestion: maybe put a narrow buffet or bench beneath?

whenever i'm stumped i like to get ideas from pottery barn catalogs (good layouts) or bhg magazines like creative homes.

hope that helped!

I'm not sure what you have on the other sides of the room, but I'm thinking a hutch or stepback cupboard. If you cou find one at a yard sale or thrift shop and paint it to match your table and chairs. You could put some of those beautiful dishes I have seen in your other posts. I look forward to seeing what you do! Oh, and I love that paint color!

Hello Jen! It is a sweet, quaint area. I think a small white hutch/table would look wonderful underneath your grouping. A pretty lamp on the table would do to! Love the colors...my colors to!

You need a slimish table, long sidetable or similar or a garden bench. Curch pew type thing, actually that is what Iwould go with

you could hang a quilt or a large mirror with a long table under it for a catchall. or an old window mirror with a shelf under it.
